Executive Summary
- In this latest phase of the public opinion survey, respondents were asked if they felt jobs had been created in the local area, either with Scira or the businesses that supply them. The majority felt this was the case, with 75% of respondents saying Yes, 17% saying Don't know and just 7% saying No.
- Overall, 73% of all respondents said they did not have any concerns about the Sheringham Shoal Wind Farm development, on a par with the same question in 2010. Those with concerns were focussed on effectiveness of wind energy, longevity of the project, impact on the local scenery and disruption of wildlife.
- Satisfaction with the development of the new Harbour remains high at 66% very or fairly satisfied, identical to the results in 2010. Those fairly or very dissatisfied had dropped from 17% in 2010 to 11% in 2012. Satisfaction with the way the wind farm is being developed has increased considerably, from 56% very or fairly satisfied in 2010 to 76% in 2012. In addition, those dissatisfied had fallen to just 6% in this most recent survey. Spontaneous reasons given for this level of satisfaction were 'Seems to be going well / seems like a good idea' at 69% and 'Keeping me informed' at 13%.
- Positive perceptions of the developers of the wind farm have also increased in the last two years. Respondents indicated that the developers are Professional (84%, up from 66% in 2010), Community Focussed (71%, up from 52% in 2010), Trustworthy (63%, up from 51% in 2010), Open (67%, up from 56% in 2010), and Honest (59%, up from 52% in 2010).
