Norwich‘s White Lion Café, the innovative business initiative established by Parkside School, has received a donation from the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm.

Parkside School, based in Norwich, is a specialist communication and interaction school that currently supports the individual needs of 169 pupils drawn from across Norfolk. It opened the White Lion Café on White Lion Street as a not-for-profit business as a means to provide experience and skills for young people with complex educational needs, to help ease them into the world of work and adult life.

Emma Blake, the Parkside School Community Development Co-ordinator, is extremely pleased to have received this funding, saying:

”We have recently rebranded the White Lion Café, and the generous donation from the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm has enabled us to buy new catering aprons sporting the Café‘s super, new logo. Students at the White Lion Café now have an identity and feel part of the team when they ’don‘ their apron.“

She continued:

“The White Lion Café also serves as an advice and support centre for young people and their families. People can drop in and obtain help and guidance on a wide range of issues.”

Karl Butler, the Power Plant Manager of Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm, recently visited the White Lion Café to meet students from Parkside School and learn more about the project.

“I am pleased that Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm was able to help this worthwhile community organisation. While I was there I met a number of students who were preparing food and serving members of the public, including Head Girl Emily Sewell. They all seemed to be enjoying themselves, and looked confident in their roles. I was truly inspired by what I saw.”
