The Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm Visitor Centre was opened in early 2011.
It contains interactive items, films, a model and educational panels so people can learn about climate change and renewable energy in general, and about the development, construction and operation of the Sheringham Shoal Wind Offshore Wind Farm in particular.
It also puts offshore wind energy into context in North Norfolk, outlining the historic importance of wind to the local community - as well as plans for the future.
The Visitor Centre is located in The Mo, the iconic building on Sheringham’s east promenade, which underwent a £1 million refurbishment to become the new home to the Sheringham Museum and the town’s enviable collection of lifeboats.
The Visitor Centre is ideally placed to enable people to view, though powerful telescopes, the wind farm itself. It is open from the February half-term until the end of October and its hours are: Tuesday to Saturday - 10am to 4:30pm and on Sundays from 12noon until 4pm.
