During Autumn 2013 four new recruits have joined the expanding team operating the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm. Four new positions have been created as part of the planned organisation strategy to support the efficient maintenance and safe operation of the plant. The Sheringham Shoal team welcome Karl Butler and Russell Hill in the positions of Site Representative. The two new positions of Operations and Maintenance Engineers have been filled by Ross McMillan and internal candidate Rebecca Callister, who transfers over from her existing position as Marine Coordinator.
In the positions of O&M Engineer, Ross and Rebecca will focus on the planning of all maintenance activities including routine annual servicing of turbines, and reactive fault-fixing. This is a complex job given the logistics of organising technicians with the relevant skills levels for the task, plus necessary spare parts and tools, whilst taking into account weather conditions. Recruitment to fill the position of Marine Coordinator vacated by Rebecca's internal appointment is now underway.
Karl and Russ join the HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) team as Site Representatives, and they will work back to back spending 50% of their time offshore monitoring safe work on site. HSE Manager Adam Blake said, "It is our priority to ensure safe and efficient execution of work on site at all times. The recruitment of our new Site Representatives means that we will establish optimal links between onshore planning and offshore execution."
Since its opening, the focus from the local operations and maintenance team at Sheringham Shoal has been on maximising availability of the plant to enable highest possible production levels, with safety the number one priority.
Jason Halsey, Power Plant Manager, said, "I'm delighted that once again we have found motivated and highly skilled new personnel locally here in Norfolk to join the existing team at Sheringham Shoal. Our track record of plant availability, on-target production and an exemplary safety record clearly demonstrates that our organisation has the continued ability to deliver our long term business goals."
